Ex- Physician Charged with Assault Allegations Against 38 Patients

Prosecutors have announced that a former doctor stands accused of committing assaults involving thirty-eight individuals who were patients.

The Grave Allegations

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with dozens of sexual offences – including some against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.

A deputy chief CPS official stated, “Legal teams have worked at length to assist a detailed and complex investigation, carefully reviewing the evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

The Investigation

The charges follow what police described as a “detailed inquiry” into alleged sexual offences at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.

The defendant is due to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.

Breakdown of Offences

The charging documents outline the 45 sexual offences comprise:

  • 15 counts of assault.
  • Seventeen counts of assault by penetration.
  • 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
  • 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
  • 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
