Fast bowler Gus Atkinson Adds to England's Injury Problems.
'Serious blow' for the English camp after Atkinson leaves the field due to a hamstring issue.
Gus Atkinson increased the injury concerns plaguing England when he left the field during Saturday's play of the fourth Ashes Test against Australia.
The pace bowler pulled up with his left leg after the final ball of the fourth over at the MCG.
The touring camp reported the 27-year-old felt some "soreness" and would spend time away from the action for further assessment "in the coming hours".
The concluding match of the series beginning on 4 January begins on Sunday, 4 January.
The visitors have been without fast bowlers Mark Wood to a knee injury and another paceman to a side strain during this series.
A replacement bowler was called up as cover for Wood.
Atkinson struggled during the first two matches, taking just three wickets.
He was left out from the previous Test, only to be brought back for the Melbourne Test to fill the void.
Surrey's Atkinson performed better in the fourth Test, taking two wickets with the ball, then making 28 with the bat as one of just three teammates to reach double figures.
After bowling one over in Australia's second innings, he came back on Saturday morning and had nightwatchman Scott Boland caught behind.
However, towards the conclusion of his spell, he sent down a slower ball to the batsman and suddenly grabbed his left hamstring.
The English bowler returned to the side for the Melbourne match following his omission the previous Test.
