Six Suspects Apprehended Following 12 Million Euro Heist on Precious Metals Facility in the French Republic

Six armed perpetrators using military-grade weapons employed explosives to break into a gold refining laboratory located in the city of Lyon, resulting in minor injuries to five employees during described as the most recent prominent daytime heist to affect France.

The daring raid occurred on Thursday afternoon, with officers quickly arresting the individuals believed responsible and recovering the stolen goods valued at approximately €12M (10.5 million pounds), officials reported.

Five workers of Laboratoires Pourquery received light wounds from the blast, and three employees were taken to a medical facility for examination, officials confirmed. Twenty-eight employees were present on-site when the thieves struck.

The individuals, thought to be experienced criminals, were taken into custody a brief time later in the neighboring community of Vénissieux, France, authorities revealed.

A woman involved who took part in the heist was also apprehended, officers confirmed.

“Six suspects who utilized explosives in an attack on a gold refining facility in Lyon, France were caught in the act,” France's security official stated online, lauding police for their “firmness, rapid response and command”.

High-caliber firearms, handguns and detonation devices were recovered as well.

The raid happened as authorities on Thursday apprehended five additional individuals, featuring a main perpetrator, in relation to this month's brazen theft at the Louvre.

Many investigative personnel have been searching for four robbers who employed a truck featuring an elevating platform and cutting equipment to break into an upper-level exhibition space at the renowned museum on 19 October, making off with jewelry valued at approximately 88 million euros.

In a separate high-profile case, thieves last month entered illegally the Parisian museum of natural history, taking gold specimens estimated at exceeding $1M. A young Chinese female was taken into custody recently in Barcelona in connection with the break-in, according to legal authorities.

The string of thefts has generated apprehension in the country regarding inadequate security measures at museums and various establishments housing valuable items.
