This Swine Life: Pig Named Six Seven Granted Clemency by Miami Dade County Leader.

While perhaps not at the same level as granting clemency to Thanksgiving turkeys, but the mayor of Miami-Dade experienced a presidential-style act this week by ceremoniously saving the life of a swine named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava performed the seasonal stunt at the Cuban-style Latin Cafe 2000 in the heart of Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood.

“The swine has done no wrong. She is worthy of this pardon. Her criminal record is spotless,” declared Levine Cava in a speech with inescapable allusions to the vast quantity of executive clemencies issued from the start of the beginning of a current administration.

“Except perhaps for eating six or seven apples per day,” she went on. “I hope she experiences a prosperous future free from concern.”

This ceremony, either celebrating or rejecting the local cultural practice of consuming swine during the holidays, was established to replicate the annual turkey pardoning at the White House.

The pig, donated by a first responder, was given its name from the popular vernacular phrase of young people exclaiming “six-seven” – deriving from a rap song lyric – often without clear purpose. The phrase became so widespread that a major dictionary recently named “6-7” its 2025 word of the year.

A Peaceful Retirement

Six Seven the pig is now scheduled to spend its days at a rural sanctuary “far from charcoal and roasting pans”, according to the event’s official press release.

“The pig pardon has become a beloved tradition to kick off the festive period,” said the cafe owner, in a notably cheerful message.

“It captures the spirit of Miami: joyful, varied, and rooted in traditions that foster togetherness. Annually, we are honored to observe heritage and mercy in a way unique to Miami.”

Participants enjoyed a plant-based fare of croquettes and cafecito as they celebrated the swine's new lease on life.
