Triple Most Valuable Player Nikola Jokic suffers a 'heartbreaking' injury to his knee.
Thrice-crowned NBA MVP Jokic sustained a "heartbreaking" knee injury while the Nuggets fell 147-123 to the Heat.
The Serbian center injured himself late in the first half in an unintentional coming together with team-mate Spencer Jones.
The other player came down on the footwear of Jokic, who immediately fell to the ground clutching his knee.
The 30-year-old, that is leading the league season in rebounds and dimes, posted a score of 21 points and eight dimes in the contest before sustaining the injury.
He is scheduled for an MRI scan on the following day to assess the severity of the problem.
"Right away, Jokic knew something was wrong," said Denver coach Adelman.
"This is part of the NBA. Any player who suffers an injury, that's tough to see, most notably a player as important as he is. We will know more tomorrow."
"The team will adjust together. Obviously, right now, I'm more worried primarily about Jokic personally and the letdown of experiencing a situation like that."
