Trump Welcomes Loved Ones of Attacked National Guard Personnel to White House

President Donald Trump stated on the weekend that he has invited the family of a National Guard member killed last week to visit the executive mansion.

He added that he spoke to her family and they were “devastated”.

Background on the Heartbreaking Incident

Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was lost her life in a attack on Wednesday in the nation's capital.

Her fellow service member, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, is still in the hospital in grave state.

Vigils across West Virginia have taken place in their remembrance.

Presidential Offer

The commander-in-chief stated he’s proposed a meeting at the presidential residence for the loved ones of both members of the state Guard.

“I stated: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a difficult moment, visit the White House. We’re going to honor her,” Trump told the press. “And similarly with Andrew, recover or not.”

Public Reaction

Attendees gathered over the past few days at the high school in the state to pay respects to Sarah.

Both they had been fulfilling duties with the West Virginia National Guard as part of the president’s government program to assist law enforcement in Washington DC.

Remembering Beckstrom

“Sarah was the type of pupil that teachers hoped for. She behaved with calm resilience, a contagious smile and a optimistic attitude that encouraged people around her,” Hankins, the principal of her previous school, told the Associated Press. “She was caring, compassionate and always willing to support those in need.”

Memorial arrangements for Beckstrom are still being arranged.

Legal Measures and Policy Changes

Law enforcement have accused a 29-year-old individual from Afghanistan with a charge of first-degree murder and two counts of assault with intent to kill while armed.

The event caused the administration to suspend asylum processing and cease providing visas to owners of travel documents.

Status of Andrew Wolfe

The airman, a native of Martinsburg, began his service in early 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman high school, per the Associated Press.

He remains under medical supervision and is “fighting for his life”, the state’s leader the governor stated on a news program.

The state’s top lawyer the attorney general informed Fox News Sunday that she aimed to speak to Wolfe’s family.

Memory of the Fallen Soldier

Sarah, from Summersville, graduated from her high school in mid-2023 and began her service not long after, serving as a military police officer with honor, according to the West Virginia National Guard.

“She had a lot of kindness and she absolutely had courage,” Morrisey addressed the gathering at the vigil. “Though her time ended too soon, she has left a mark that’s going to last forever.”
